Play Readings 2023: A Rare Bird at Victoria Theatre & Cinema Devonport

Play Readings 2023: A Rare Bird

85 mins | Rated TBC

The Victoria Theatre Trust is presenting its fifth Play Reading Series.
Three of New Zealand most prominent and experienced writers are featured in this year’s play reading series at the Victoria Theatre.

Sunday 15 October 4pm
A Rare Bird is a warm and delightful solo performance by actor, journalist and broadcaster Elisabeth Easther. It explores the audacious exploits of a woman who was dedicated to preserving New Zealand’s flora and fauna in a male-dominated world. This true story reveals the vital role Perrine Moncrieff played as an early conservationist.
When Elisabeth first stumbled upon the writings of ornithologist Perrine Moncrieff and her 1925 field guide New Zealand Birds and How To Identify Them she was astonished that Perrine was not better remembered.
She writes and performs this entertaining play that celebrates the work of an extraordinary woman.
